
Colonel Michael R. Berriman
Deputy Director, U.S. Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C)
COL Michael R. Berriman serves as the Deputy Director of the Army Artificial Intelligence Integration Center (AI2C), where he helps lead the Army’s efforts to field AI-enabled capabilities, strengthen digital readiness, and accelerate modernization across the force. In this role, he provides strategic oversight, operational leadership, and synchronization of key initiatives that advance the Army’s artificial intelligence strategy.
A native of Springfield, Missouri, COL Berriman commissioned as an Armor officer after graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He later earned a Master of Arts in Management and Leadership from Webster University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Throughout his career, COL Berriman has held a wide range of command and staff positions across the Army, including two battalion commands; division-level operations officer; and Brigade Commander, Task Force Sinai, where he also served as Chief of Staff for the Multinational Force & Observers. His assignments span Korea, Germany, Egypt, Colombia, and multiple deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Valor Device, multiple Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medals, and the Combat Action Badge.
As Deputy Director of AI2C, COL Berriman brings deep operational experience and proven leadership to guide AI integration efforts, strengthen partnerships, and ensure the Army is equipped for the data-driven, AI-enabled battlespace of the future.
